Patricia de Poel Wilberg

About Me

Patricia de Poel Wilberg is a distinguished artist whose journey in art has been as diverse and colorful as her creations. Born in the serene landscapes of Norway, Patricia’s passion for art has taken her across the globe, living and drawing inspiration from the vibrant cultures of Mexico, the bustling streets of New York, and the artistic richness of France. Now flourishing in the vibrant art scene of Maryland, her educational journey at prestigious institutions such as the New York Art Students League, Art and Design, The Cooper Union School of Art, and the University of Southern Maine has honed her skills to perfection. With degrees in Fine Art and Art Education, Patricia’s commitment to both creating and sharing knowledge is evident in every piece she crafts and every lesson she imparts.

As a resident artist at Washington Glass School and Artists and Makers in Rockville, Patricia has carved a niche in the art community. She is known for her unique ability to blend the traditional with the contemporary. Her art, characterized by its vivid colors, intricate patterns, and classic themes currently reminiscent of the unicorn tapestries, speaks volumes of her mastery over her craft. The fluidity with which she merges glass with paint in her creations is a testament to her skill and a gateway to a world where every piece tells a story, inviting the viewer to explore the depths of emotion and thought.

Patricia’s primary medium, kiln-formed glass, painted with vitreous enamels, is a canvas on which she explores the themes of art history and womankind, drawing inspiration from her initial foray into using glass as medium while working with adults with special needs. Her work is a celebration of glass’s plasticity and luminosity, creating pieces that are not only visually stunning but also rich in narrative and depth.

Exhibiting her work across the Mid-Atlantic area of Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia, Patricia continues to inspire and educate, sharing her passion for art through teaching. Her creations are more than just art; they are an immersive experience, a journey through history, emotion, and the sheer beauty of glass as a medium. Patricia de Poel Wilberg remains a trusted and inspirational figure in the art community, constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity and inviting us all to see the world through her vibrant and intricate lens.
